Technology

Believing that technology is necessary to best prepare students for the challenging environment with which they will be faced, Ascension is dedicated to the inclusion of technology in learning, teaching and communication. Ascension provides all teachers and students with access to those technologies most effective in improving student achievement.
A primary goal of the Ascension technology program is to optimize utilization of technologies to help AES students achieve and prepare for the world outside of the school. The classroom computers as well as labs of networked multimedia computers enable teachers to efficiently and effectively integrate computer activities into classroom curricula. Technology skills to be mastered at each grade level have been identified and students demonstrate their proficiency through applications integrated into subject matter. At the middle school level, students experience advanced subject matter including video editing, Web design, desktop publishing and robotics. Eighth grade students have the opportunity to take the Lafayette Parish Proficiency Exam to earn high school credit for Computer Literacy. |
