Media Literacy / Technology
Media Literacy is a newly found program that was started in the Fall of 2015 with our middle schools students in grades 5-7. It began with students learning the basics of filmmaking including the phases of film production, the art of storyboarding, and the techniques used by experienced videographers to produce quality films. Students learn about different genres of film and write, direct, edit, and produce their own pieces of film throughout the year including basic newscasts, commercials, music videos, action pieces, and more.
Students alternate between production roles and receive training in every aspect of production – writing, filming, sound engineering, field reporting, and editing in the post-production suites using Final Cut Pro software.
